We Build Black is an non-profit organization of like minded Black technologists with the approach that we can take control of our own destinies by doing, educating, and empowering the people within our community. WE ACT employs community-based participatory research to promote public policy reform in “Northern Manhattan,” which encompasses north of 96th Street on the East side, the traditional border between “Spanish Harlem” and the Upper East side, and 110th on the West side, the traditional border between “West” and “Central Harlem” and the Upper West side.

Life Exchange Center (LEC) is an ODMHAS certified consumer-operated peer support drop-in center. It is a beacon of hope and recovery from individuals with mental health/substance use issues. The Center is designed to assist with the recovery process by providing social support, educational programs, and life skills training for individuals in recovery.

As the first organization of its kind, in North Carolina, W.I.S.E. (Women In Support and Empowerment) Community Doulas was formed to provide caring, sensitive, and culturally appropriate doula support, for women of color; who lack the adequate resources needed, to afford doula care. We envision pregnancy and birth as part of a spectrum of reproductive experiences, which also includes fertility, pregnancy prevention, miscarriage, abortion, surrogacy, and adoption, and we extend the doula model of care to all of the choices and outcomes across this spectrum. This means that we provide educational, informational, physical and emotional support for all reproductive choices and experiences.

The LGBTQ Freedom Fund secures the release of low-income people held in jail or immigration detention simply because they can't afford bail, with focus on LGBTQ individuals. We work to build a critical mass against the mass detention of LGBTQ individuals — a tangle of discrimination and poverty disproportionately puts them behind bars. We pay pretrial bail in parts of Florida and immigration bond in all 50 U.S. states.
