Maine Equal Justice (MEJ) is a nonprofit civil legal aid and economic justice organization working to increase economic security, opportunity, and equity for people in Maine. We advocate for fair public policies in the legislature and with governmental agencies, provide direct legal services and representation through impact litigation on systemic issues, and partner with diverse low-income communities and agencies through outreach, organizing, and education.

Maine Doulas is proud to provide families in Maine and Northern New England with professional doulas offering exceptional care. With over 300 families served throughout New England, we share the expertise, compassion, and professionalism gained through our experiences and extensive education. We equally support all birth goals including; planned cesarean, natural birth, induction, VBAC, and planned use of medication. We bring confidence to your many choices as a new parent. Nothing is taboo. Maine Doulas offers labor support in the birth place of your choice (whether in hospital or home), as well as postpartum care in your home starting as early as the day your baby is born.

The Maine Business Immigration Coalition (MeBIC) recognizes the value of immigration and promotes initiatives, laws, and policies to attract, integrate, and retain immigrants in Maine's economy and communities as consumers, workers, entrepreneurs and citizens.

Maine Citizens for Clean Elections is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization working to ensure that Maine’s campaign finance laws, elections, and government serve the public interest, both in principle and in practice. We engage Maine people from across the political spectrum, using research, education, and outreach to further fairness, inclusion, and opportunity in our politics. MCCE Action advocates for campaign finance laws, elections, and government that serve the public interest, both in principle and in practice. We support measures that increase fairness, inclusion, and opportunity in our politics and promote robust participation by Maine people in their government.

Maine Access Immigrant Network (MAIN) bridges access to About Us 2health and social services for immigrants and refugees in Portland Maine. Our organization works to build a stronger multicultural community in Portland, and to address refugee health literacy, health care enrollment, and coordination of health care benefits and non-clinical care. MAIN provides resource and referral information that is culturally and linguistically appropriate in English, Arabic, Somali, and French to ensure equal access to programs and services for new Mainers from Africa and Middle East.

Hurston Tutoring Program was initiated on February 17, 2015, to help tutor and mentor children with the help of volunteers. We aim to give students the opportunity to excel in education, and to give the extra push they may need to achieve, maintain, and exceed the standards set by the state and/or public school district. The tutoring/mentoring sessions are currently held three times per week for one hour each day. The tutoring is free of charge to all students. I have reserved the Education Room in the HealthCore Clinic (formerly known as Center of Health and Wellness) to hold said sessions. The volunteers help the students with their homework and core course studies. When a student does not have homework, we have workbooks to provide activities similar to what the students are doing in the classroom or worksheets that will introduce them to new material.
