SBCC was founded to unite activists, residents and workers to work toward empowerment and self-determination and promote our social justice issues.

Sisters in Birth, Inc., is a nonprofit, charitable, case management pregnancy center located in Jackson’s medical district. It is dedicated to providing nonclinical reproductive health services designed to reduce premature births, C-section deliveries, and infant and maternal deaths and increase breastfeeding in Mississippi. Currently, we exclusively serve the Greater Jackson area. We provide comprehensive proven based services that increase prenatal and postpartum visits, improve the patient’s overall pregnancy experience, and increase rates of full-term, vaginal births and breastfeeding.

The three primary objectives of Respect Our Black Dollars are: support quality black-owned businesses; promote black economic community-control models; and spur development in black business infrastructure.

The mission of Peel Dem Layers Back is to culturally educate, empower and equip adolescents and young adults with essential tools necessary to live a mentally healthy life. Our unconventional approach to offering mental health services is through a Hip-Hop lens.

In 2009, out of the New Life Enrichment Center, an idea was born to help promote life affirming decisions among pregnant woman. An idea that led to the strategic partnerships with state agencies and private affiliates to create an environment of structure, support and hope.

Mississippi Food Network (MFN) has been feeding Mississippians since 1984. MFN distributes more than 1.5 million pounds of food and feeds more than 150,000 every month — or a total of 1.8 million people per year. MFN takes donations from multiple sources, and distributes food and goods through 430 member agencies. They, in turn, distribute to recipients in their own communities. Every $1 donated provides six meals to hungry Mississippians, and 95 cents of every dollar goes to our programs.

Hunger Busters is a Dallas-based charity focused on Feeding Kids and Fueling Futures by providing a much-needed third meal of the day to food-insecure children in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) through our “Feed the Need” after-school program.
