Free Classes/Spaces
Description (click to expand)
Ferene Paris Meyer creates heart-centered spaces through storytelling workshops, community engagements, and retreats. She’s excited to spread love, gratitude, and affirmations within our local community and beyond! -- How would it feel as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in Vermont to have a storytelling class centered around you? This class creates space for BIPOC voices to be heard, finding connection and a sense of belonging through shared narratives of resilience, BIPOC joy, melanin magic, vibrant cultures, surviving, thriving, and more. Meyer’s intention is to provide our local BIPOC community a storytelling space to learn and affirm one another, minimizing the impact of microaggressions and harm. In this BIPOC affinity space, one can practice the art of live storytelling in various ways and learn how to structure, edit, and perform your own story.

Reproductive Health
Description (click to expand)
I envision compassionate care that is centered on you in all your uniqueness! You deserve pregnancy and birth support that is attentive to the identities and needs of you and your family. I know that reproductive journeys do not occur independent of social context and I’m aware of how systems may disadvantage or oppress families made up of LGBTQ+ and nonbinary individuals, BIPOC, religious minority individuals, people who are incarcerated, young people and teenagers, non-native English speakers, and members of other marginalized groups. Working from a reproductive justice frame, I go beyond cultural sensitivity to provide truly inclusive, power-informed care that honors and values the differences among pregnant people and their reproductive needs.

Description (click to expand)
The Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA of Greater Waterville at the Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) has been providing life saving services to youths and families in need for 96 years. Much more than just a safe and healthy haven, in recent years we have expanded our services to provide 850,000 snacks, meals, and weekend food backpacks annually for food-insecure youth. Additionally, we support our community’s aging population with wellness classes and vital opportunities for weekly interaction. The present crisis has forced us to rethink how we can best serve the evolving needs of our community. Based upon valued discussions with our Board, community leaders and members, four urgent needs became apparent: 1) provide evening meals to food insecure community members; 2) provide childcare for health care and other essential working parents; 3) provide outreach and services to at risk youth stuck at home; and 4) provide outreach and services to isolated seniors.
