Legal Aid/Bail Funds
Description (click to expand)
The Liberty Fund’s mission is to reduce the number of New Yorkers subjected to unnecessary pretrial detention while simultaneously providing them with much needed social services. Since August 2017, The Liberty Fund has been critical to the City’s overall decarceration efforts, first through our citywide Charitable Bail Program and now also through our ROR (Released On Recognizance) Program, both of which provide voluntary, person-centered, pretrial case management support. -- The Liberty Fund’s overall goals are: 1) to build trust and rapport with clients; 2) to support clients in other aspects of their lives through voluntary services; and 3) to facilitate clients’ personal success to prevent further recidivism. We achieve this through our unique approach: 1) Pretrial – Interventions initiated at the most critical touch point for success; 2) Voluntary – Non-mandated services to ensure no additional sanctions; 3) Person-Centered – Best-fit services determined by the participant; 4) Court-based – Engagement leveraged at court for effective time usage.

Description (click to expand)
The Legal Aid Society is built on one simple but powerful belief: that no person should be denied their right to equal justice. Our Civil, Criminal Defense, Juvenile Rights, and Pro Bono practices work tirelessly in and out of the courtroom to defend our clients and dismantle the hidden, systemic barriers that can prevent them from thriving in New York City. We seek to be a beacon of hope forThe Legal Aid Society is more than a law firm for low-income New Yorkers. It is an indispensable component of the legal, social, and economic fabric of New York City — passionately advocating for individuals and families across a variety of civil, criminal defense, and juvenile rights matters, while also fighting for legal reform. Just like the city we represent, The Legal Aid Society is also one of the most diverse law firms in the nation.

We continue to innovate so that more good food is available for anyone who wants it. At the Intervale Center, we believe in the power of good food. We envision food systems that support joyful, vibrant communities. Farms and food businesses thrive, natural resources are healthy and protected, and people are nourished and happy.
