Leaders of Maine’s immigrant community have created a nonprofit to encourage new residents to vote and make their voices heard at the State House in August

The New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice is a statewide membership-based coalition of organizations that creates and achieves policies in New Jersey that welcome and support immigrants to become rooted economically, politically and socially within the state. NJAIJ will use the power and strength of its member organizations to ensure that New Jersey’s immigrant communities are leaders in the development of policies that impact their lives and the lives of all New Jersey residents. Through the work of NJAIJ and its members, New Jersey will ensure access to services, support family unity, and develop policies and strategies that provide opportunities for immigrants to fully participate in civic life. The human, civil and labor rights of New Jersey’s immigrants, both documented and those seeking status, will be protected.

NHEJN seeks to improve our urban environment and protect the quality of life of the New Haven community. Our goals are to: Foster awareness of environmental justice issues, Support and help to create fair and responsible public policy on environmental issues, Promote activities that safeguard the health of New Haven residents, Promote remediation measures for our soil, water, and air, Promote energy conservation and alternative forms of energy

​​The AALV helps new Americans from all parts of the world gain independence in their new communities through a range of integration services, including bridging case management, workforce development, behavioral health awareness, and interpreter services programming. With support from our multicultural, multilingual staff, our clients are able to smoothly transition to living and working in Vermont. ​ ​Our Mission: ​​To promote the equal opportunity, dignity, and self-sufficiency of refugee and immigrant individuals and families in Vermont, regardless of race, ethnic group, religious or political affiliation, or sexual orientation.  History: The AALV was founded more than seven years ago as a way for the small African community at that time to get together for social events as well as to discuss the challenges of being in America. Over time, AALV has steadily grown into a small social services agency with full-time staff. In 2009, AALV made a decision to not only serve Africans, but to provide services to all refugees in Vermont including Bhutanese, Burmese, Iraqis, and others. AALV is proud to be able to extend its experience in mutual assistance to newly arrived refugee groups.

NLS secures justice and resolves fundamental legal problems for those who are low-income and vulnerable in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence Counties by providing high-quality legal services and community legal education. Founded in 1966, NLS has provided civil legal aid to more than 1.2 million of our low-income neighbors in need of legal assistance.

From their mission/vision: "Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica, Inc., (NHSJ) is a 42 year old non-profit organization committed to preserving, protecting, and revitalizing neighborhoods, through increasing: homeownership, community development and investment in southern Queens. This is accomplished by offering housing education, counseling and financial services to low-to-moderate income residents thus allowing people access to sustainable, affordable housing in southern Queens."

A nonprofit organization established in 1975, NHS is committed to offering Chicago residents affordable resources so they can buy, fix, and keep their homes. We partner with residents, block clubs, neighborhood organizations, financial institutions, the City of Chicago, insurance companies, corporations and foundations so that families can protect and preserve their single biggest investment—their homes. Our mission is creating opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their neighborhoods.

Neighborhood Allies fosters Healthy Neighborhoods of Choice and Opportunity across Greater Pittsburgh. We make life better for people and improve places and environments for all Pittsburghers to live by bringing hope, fresh ideas, expertise and resources and by accelerating, scaling and sustaining equitable, proven community change initiatives. As a community development focused intermediary, Neighborhood Allies works to support the people, organizations and partnerships committed to creating and maintaining healthy neighborhoods.

Housing programs (for rent, mortgage, security deposits) along with utility bill assistance (electric, heating, or water) can help low income families. Find charities, churches, and government agencies in Western Kentucky (including counties of Hickman, Ballard, McCracken and others) to call for help. Get case management, free debt or mortgage counseling, food from pantries, and even medical care in the region and several counties.
